Sometimes, when you’re entering into a new relationship or going through a rough patch with a long-term significant other, we seek out advice from others to help us through uncharted relationship territory. But when we're looking for advice from our friends, family members, coworkers, neighbors or just the latest magazines at the checkout counter, how do we know what tips and pieces of advice are actually worth following? This post from Nigeria News Today lists the seven top pieces of "advice" that may actually do more harm than good, and that you should never follow.
One of the most common pieces of advice out there is to "never go to bed angry." But if you and your spouse have been arguing with each other for hours and by the wee hours of the morning you still haven't come to a solution, it may be time to call it a night and resume your conversation tomorrow. When you're tired, you think less clearly and may say things you don't entirely mean. You'll both be less likely to listen to reason the longer the argument goes on, and you may concede to something you don't fully agree with just because you want the argument to end. If you can't reach an agreement at night, put a pin in it and come back to the discussion the next day with a clear mind. For more pieces of advice you should stop following, read on.
